The answer
When it comes to the birth control pill, it is extremely important to remember to take it at the same time every day. [WebMD explains that missing one or two pills and doubling up (taking the missed pill and current day pill) as soon as you remember are not a real cause for concern. However, missing more than 2 pills and not doubling up would make it necessary to call a doctor for further instructions.
Since you mention taking Plan B as a backup method, it is possible for your period to be off schedule. The [Mayo Clinic explains that Plan B (emergency contraceptive) can delay your period for up to one week if taken within the 72 hours of sexual intercourse with no or a failed birth control method. If you go longer than one week without a period, we strongly recommend you take an at home pregnancy test and reach out to a doctor.
